January 2017 – During the wake of the first Dakota land boom, in the young and thriving, dirt-road town of Alpena, on January 8, 1892 the Bank of Alpena was chartered by the state of South Dakota. Over the last 125 years, this community bank, now known as American Bank & Trust, has grown into 9 locations and over 130 employees.
October 2016 - With the generosity of American Bank & Trust, People’s Transit in Huron was able to purchase a new bus to serve the ever growing ridership in Huron’s community. The community bank contributed matching funds of $12,400 towards the total cost of $62,400 for the bus. The State of South Dakota Department of Transportation, through federal transportation funds paid the remaining $50,000.
February 2016 – In response to the mounting budgetary needs of our local schools, American Bank & Trust is inspired to give back to the community through Spirit Cards.
July 30, 2014 – American Bank & Trust recently presented a check to the City of Wessington Springs and the Wessington Springs Volunteer Fire Department in the amount of $17,650.00.
September 2, 2013 – American Bank & Trust and American State Bank, two leading financial institutions, celebrated its Kasasa® banking accounts with a fun-filled community event September 2nd at South Dakota State Fair.
