May 2018 - In a continuing effort to retain our best and brightest students, American Bank & Trust and the South Dakota Bankers Foundation are partnering up once again to help 12 area high school Seniors further their education.
April 2018 - American Bank & Trust headquartered in Huron, SD announces its acquisition of Farmers State Bank. Farmers State Bank has 3 locations in Stickney, Carthage and Iroquois, South Dakota. Both community banks are leaders in Agribusiness lending in South Dakota.
February 2018 - American Bank & Trust is inspired to give back to communities and school districts through Spirit Cards. These cards promote school pride and generate income for school systems. A Spirit Card is an check card that showcases the school district’s name, colors and mascot.
November 2017 - After serving 15 years as President/CEO at American Bank & Trust, Lynn Schneider is stepping down at the end of the year. The locally owned bank is proud to announce that Doug Tribble will take on the CEO role effective January 1st, 2018.
September 2017 - South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) has recognized Jamie Olson from American Bank & Trust in Huron as a Top Loan Officer.
May 2017 - To celebrate Community Banking Month and in honor of the bank's 125th anniversary, the bank hosted a Pay it Forward promotion in April!
January 2017 – During the wake of the first Dakota land boom, in the young and thriving, dirt-road town of Alpena, on January 8, 1892 the Bank of Alpena was chartered by the state of South Dakota. Over the last 125 years, this community bank, now known as American Bank & Trust, has grown into 9 locations and over 130 employees.
October 2016 - With the generosity of American Bank & Trust, People’s Transit in Huron was able to purchase a new bus to serve the ever growing ridership in Huron’s community. The community bank contributed matching funds of $12,400 towards the total cost of $62,400 for the bus. The State of South Dakota Department of Transportation, through federal transportation funds paid the remaining $50,000.
February 2016 – In response to the mounting budgetary needs of our local schools, American Bank & Trust is inspired to give back to the community through Spirit Cards.
July 30, 2014 – American Bank & Trust recently presented a check to the City of Wessington Springs and the Wessington Springs Volunteer Fire Department in the amount of $17,650.00.
September 2, 2013 – American Bank & Trust and American State Bank, two leading financial institutions, celebrated its Kasasa® banking accounts with a fun-filled community event September 2nd at South Dakota State Fair.
