My name is Brent Heinert, and I am a Regional President for American Bank & Trust.

I grew up on a farm near Delmont, SD, before attending Northern State University. While at NSU, I obtained my Finance degree with an Accounting minor. Outside of work you can find me playing golf, hunting, or spending time with my friends and family. My wife, Brenda, and I have three amazing children – Jake, Erynn, and Will.

I have been helping people achieve their financial goals with over 29 years of experience in the banking industry. My strategy to help you achieve your financial goals is a simple one, listen and try to fully understand your needs. I am Don Churchill, the Market President for American Bank & Trust in De Smet, Iroquois, and Carthage.

I grew up 40 miles south of Valentine, NE, on registered Charolais Ranch. I attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, NE. My wife, Melissa, and I have been blessed with 6 daughters and 7 grandchildren in our family. We enjoy travelling to see our grandkids in their sporting events.

Meet Bob Goetz – Huron Market President

My name is Bob Goetz, and I’m a Market President & Regional Director of Insurance Services with American Bank & Trust.

I was born and raised in the small town of Java, SD. After high school, I attended South Dakota State University (SDSU). I graduated from SDSU in 1983 with a degree in Mechanized Agriculture. A few years later, I met my beautiful wife, Shelly, in Kimball, SD. We got married in 1993 and started a family with one daughter and one son. Both of our children also graduated from our alma mater, SDSU. Our daughter, Rachel, is now a P.A. in Watertown; and our son, Rob, is employed in the nutrition department at Egg Fresh and is expecting his first child with his wife, Anna. Outside of work, Shelly and I enjoy camping and travelling. It is our goal to visit all the National Parks. We have already visited 18 National Parks and have several more adventures to go.

Meet Rhonda Borchard – Mellette Market President

My name is Rhonda Borchard, and I am the Mellette Market President with American Bank and Trust.

I grew up in Mellette and attended Northwestern area school, attended Northern State University in Aberdeen where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with Accounting and Finance.  I started working at the bank (then named Farmers State Bank in Mellette) in 1983 as a teller while attending college full time.  I believe it was in 1991, FSB merged with American State Bank, now known as American Bank & Trust. I then moved through the ranks to become a lender in 1998 and then to Market President much later (not sure if it was in 2013 or later).  I will celebrate my 40-year anniversary on June 1st of this year.

I am married to Max Borchard, and we have two grown children, Ben Borchard and Betsey (Saven) Lechner.  They have given me 4 grandsons to adore and spoil.  We all live in Northville within a couple blocks from each other which allows for the boys to walk to grandma and papas house often.

Outside of work, Max and I like to garden and spend time with family and friends.  But our summers at spent at the Missouri River where we fish, relax, and stay at our home away from home.  I also love to read and bake in my off times.

My community means the world to me.  I have been involved with many organizations through my 40- year career.  I am currently treasurer of Mellette Legion Auxiliary, Secretary of Mellette Community Development Foundation and Auditor of Trinity Lutheran Church.  I am also a member of NW Strollers Relay for Life team.  Much of my extra time is spent volunteering with the many community events in the area.

I have always enjoyed helping people and seeing them succeed.  I love the challenge of helping someone start farming or a business.  I love seeing new couples move to the area and start a new life.  I love seeing our towns thrive with new businesses. I love to hear success stories from a customer.   I feel a sense of pride knowing that I can make a difference in someone’s life by helping them with their banking.

Meet Tim Bode – Miller Market President

My name is Tim Bode, and I am the Market President for American Bank and Trust in Miller, SD.

I grew up working in our family farm north of Mt Vernon.  After graduating from high school, I attended South Dakota State University where I majored in Agricultural Business and received a minor in Agronomy.  My first job after college was working for the bank at our Stickney location and that is where I met my we.  We have been blessed with 2 daughters that keep us very busy with a growing number of school functions, camping, golfing and other family activities.

My favorite part of working for American Bank and Trust has been working with customers to help them grow to meet their financial goals. I strive to provide value to my customers by listening to understand their financial needs using my expertise and resources to find a solution that is right for them.

Meet Austin Bernhard – Pierre Market President

Hi, I’m Austin Bernhard, and I am a Market President for American Bank & Trust in Pierre, SD.

I grew up in Sioux Falls and have had the privilege of living throughout the State to include Rapid City and now call Pierre home.  I have enjoyed the opportunity to meet many people across the State which has widen my horizon as I consider all of state part of my community for banking.

I completed my degree in Business Management at University of South Dakota while serving in the United States Coast Guard.  My time in Vermillion is where I met my wife, Jenny, and since getting married, we have been blessed with 3 beautiful children.  We are an outdoor family and depending on the season you may find me in the North Hills on a mountain bike, summertime on the lake, or chasing roosters behind the dog.

The last 8 years with AB&T have been fantastic, I have been able to first-hand participate in the growth of the bank which is exactly with what I enjoy most in my job.  I thrive on the excitement and energy of working with clients grow their business or the Ag family looking to expand.  I believe strongly in culture as a leader and try to find ways to make the banking experience fun for clients and staff.  I work hard to be a trusted source as your financial advisor wanting all customers who leaves a meeting or interaction to feel their time was of value and their Banker is an asset to their business.

Meet Ryan Brown – Sioux Falls Market President

My name is Ryan Brown, Market President in Sioux Falls. I joined the American Bank and Trust team in 2016 when we started a “De Novo” branch. It has been a great adventure and honor being a part of this bank’s growth and vision. I spent 10 years in Business Banking in Sioux Falls prior to joining AB&T.

I grew up in Watertown, SD and completed my education at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, with a degree in Finance.  I married my high school sweetheart, Jamie, and we now have three school aged children, two boys and one girl. We also just added a mini golden doodle to the mix!

Outside of the office, I enjoy hunting big game as well as upland birds. I also spend quite a bit of my down time reading and playing guitar!

The best part of working here at AB&T is knowing that we can truly deliver on our service commitments to our customers, and we are empowered to meet all of our customer’s financial needs. We are able develop great relationships with our customers because of this, and genuinely provide a strong financial advisory experience for our customers. I also greatly enjoy interacting with all of the amazing team members we have here each day. Being part of a cohesive, energetic, and positive team is wonderful!

Meet Allen Teel – Stickney Market President

My name is Allen Teel, and I am the Market President with American Bank & Trust in Stickney.

I grew up on the family ranch near Herrick, SD, and attended high school in Burke.  After graduating from high school, I obtained a degree in Business Administration from Northern State University.

I met my wife, Angie, in high school.  We have lived in Stickney since 1985 and our three children all graduated from Stickney High School.  We, also, have three grandchildren to enrich our lives.  When not working, I enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening, participating in church activities, and spending time with family & friends.

I have worked at the Bank in Stickney, since 1985, and we have been part of the American Bank & Trust family since 2018.  My favorite part of the job is working with our customers to help them achieve their financial goals and to make their life better.  Over the years, I have worked with some excellent bankers, farmers and businesspeople and I bring that wealth of experience to share with you.

Meet Mike Paulson – Watertown Market President

My name is Mike Paulson, and I’m the Market President of American Bank & Trust in Watertown.

I grew up in Milbank and continued my education at Northern State University. My wife, Holly, is an elementary school teacher at the Watertown School District. We have 1 daughter, Kendall, and 2 sons, Kye and Logan. Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends. Holly and I enjoy following our children around to their various activities.

I have been in the banking industry for 15 years, and in January of 2021 helped open the Watertown branch for American Bank & Trust.   Customer experience is our #1 priority at AB&T and that is very evident within every department of the bank.  The service we can provide is the result of everyone working towards our shared goal of putting the customers first.

My name is Blake Willman, and I am a Market President with American Bank and Trust in Wessington Springs.

I was born and raised in Wessington Springs, SD. After graduating from Wessington Springs High School, I obtained a degree in Ag Business with a minor in Accounting from South Dakota State University. Outside of work, I keep busy by volunteering for many local organizations in Wessington Springs. I also enjoy golfing, hunting, or cheering on the Wessington Springs Spartans, SDSU Jackrabbits, Minnesota Twins, or San Francisco 49ers.

My name is Jim Babcock, and I am a Market President with American Bank & Trust.

I was born in Huron, SD, but spent most of my childhood in Southern Minnesota before moving back to my parent’s hometown of Wolsey when I was 15.  After graduation from Wolsey High School, I earned a Business Degree from Northern State College.

My wife, Sherry, and I have two grown sons and one granddaughter.  I enjoy spending time with my family, hunting, and fishing.

I have been with American Bank & Trust for 36 years, with the entire time spent in Wolsey starting as an insurance agent.  My greatest enjoyment is working with my Ag customers and helping them achieve their successes.   Being an Ag Lender with American Bank & Trust for 30 plus years has given me the opportunity to work with three generations of farmers.  During my carer I have seen best of times and some of the toughest times in Agriculture and I am here to let my experiences help you succeed.

Meet Doug Tuin – Worthington Market President

My name is Doug Tuin, and I am the Market President in Worthington, MN.

I was born and raised in Pipestone, MN, and for the past 25 years I have lived in Fulda, MN, with my wife, Becky, and our two daughters. We have been blessed to have 4 grandchildren that we think the world of. In my spare time, I love to hunt, fish, watch dirt track racing, and I am the Minnesota Vikings #1 fan.

Two years ago, I joined the American Bank and Trust team. I believed in the pillars that the bank has established and the customer first mentality.
